Making waves offers a wide selection of parachute games to develop group co-operation and listening and communication skills. These are organised into ‘tent games,’ ‘active games’, and games using ‘language and song.’ There is a particularly useful section at the end of the book of ‘calming and ending games’ that bring any exciting and vigorous parachute session to an ordered and relaxed conclusion. Play is an invaluable medium for learning and the innovative and imaginative use of play in circle time demonstrated in this book can only be of benefit to any who use them. The games can be used in small or whole group settings, and can be lead by teachers or assistants alike. These games were also used successfully by children with severe learning difficulties… the book is a treasure trove of wonderful ideas.
