Experiences of a Circle Time enthusiast from India visiting Jenny Mosley

Tue, Jan 29th 2008

Hello! I am Meena Kant from Bangalore, India. I love learning, children, people and Nature. While I have taught at various levels and worked as a teacher leader, I am presently working with young children in a school called The Inventure Academy in Bangalore.

I was delighted when Jenny Mosley chose to sponsor me to come to England and stay with her, to attend the circle time workshop, and visit some schools with her to see how QCT is being practiced. For this, and for all the love, care and warmth I have received from her and others in the company I am deeply grateful.

This visit has been a remarkable experience for me - being with Jenny for 10 days is much more than what I could have asked for. Seeing her work hard and contribute to the good cause of education has been very inspiring. The contribution she makes towards betterment of education of children, teachers, management and parents through Circle Time. Each moment she uses meaningfully, oh what discipline in her life and yet so much love, passion and patience for those who are not so good with their work!!! She has touched me deeply and inspired me a lot to contribute always positively to the society or people around me. I was amazed to see her will power and the constant work with so much focus that nothing can distract her! Her thoughts and actions go together like light with warmth.

I saw that her work has really made a difference in schools where they are practicing circle time… and there is such possibility for greater change. QCT opens up all the channels for children to learn from each other and their surroundings. It made me so happy to see how children were aware and keen to follow the “golden rules” and “golden time”. I saw this all in practice in schools, during class time, lunch time, play ground… I saw teachers getting inspired by Jenny’s workshop and saying they wanted to practice QCT more and more. One teacher validated the power of QCT as “if we follow it, there will be no problem in schools any more”.

Another teacher felt the whole staff needed training to use all aspects of this model. This could bring a great change in children’s lives. I was amazed to see how much children and teachers learn when Jenny conducts the workshops and trainings here as well as in India. I am definitely going to use this much more now in my school.

Apart from the immense joy I got during my stay and interaction with Jenny my most enduring learning has been to understand how to love unconditionally, and be honest and true to yourself and to the work you do.
