Jenny Mosley celebrates SEAL with SEBDA
Tue, Feb 12th 2008
SEBDA, the association for all who work for children and young people with severe emotional and behavioural difficulties, held a special day on 7th February to celebrate SEAL (the Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning). The event, held at the Holiday Inn, Seaton Burn, Newcastle upon Tyne, was for school leaders, teachers, local authority officers, behaviour support workers, social workers and educational psychologists.
Jenny Mosley was delighted to be invited to join in with the day, and she lead a two-hour session, stressing the importance of the social and emotional aspects of learning - and celebrating SEAL.
In the afternoon, Graham Wilkinson, a trained speech and language therapist for 22 years, looked at key language factors necessary for creating coherent, emotionally-rich classroom talk and introductory strategies for overcoming obstacles to success. There was also a choice of interactive, practitioner-led workshops.
