Puppets to receive a ‘helping hand’ from Positive Press!

Tue, Jul 5th 2005

Puppets all over the land will be delighting in two new titles from Positive Press this summer. Teachers will have new resources and skills for using puppets as partners in learning and teaching in Early Years and Key Stages one and two.

‘Puppets at Large’, by Linda Bentley, is a step-by-step guide to using puppets with young children. The book helps to bring puppets to life for small children, helping with when to use them, how to prepare successfully, how they link into other areas of the Foundation Stage and how to breathe life into your puppets. The book is illustrated throughout with original and inspirational colour photographs.

‘The Power of Puppets’, by Georgia Thorp, is a wealth of stories and practical ideas to share with children in Key Stages one and two. The book offers a reassuring introduction for anyone who has not yet experienced the effectiveness of puppets in stimulating children’s imaginations. It also offers fifteen stories in which the characters face every day challenges, supported by thought-provoking discussions and follow-up work. The stories are all illustrated with large format, full-colour pictures to share.

If you are interested in obtaining puppets for your classroom, they can be purchased from this website in the Circle Time Shop, or by telephoning 01225 767157.
