“We Love Golden Time!” – The Positive Behaviour Strategy

Nearly 47,000 ex-primary school pupils have become a fan of a Facebook site because they had Golden Time in primary school. Surely this is evidence of an enormous cohort of pupils having enjoyed primary school Golden Time– otherwise would they really still be talking about it years later?
Some of the comments from the site include:
· i want it back
· i loved golden time :'( and miss it :'(
· It rocked!!! We would all get really exited if we were allowed to go in the other class rooms :)
· golden time was the only reason i went 2 skl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
· The one thing u had to look foward to in the week....... lol
· so much better than high school
· i remember we had a poll of what our favourite lesson was - some said football, everyone else said GOLDEN TIME!
· toffee apples!...dat we neva got to make! lol
· Golden Time was pretty cool when I was 10... Come to think of it, I want it back!
Golden Time is part of the Whole School Quality Circle Time model, developed by Jenny Mosley over the past 25 years. The whole-school system has several elements, including class listening systems, lunchtime and playtime strategies, staff well-being programmes and systems for pupils beyond the usual classroom management systems in addition to the Golden Time incentives and sanctions system. Working all together, these systems can create calm, productive and enjoyable learning environments where pupils can achieve their academic potential whilst developing their self-esteem and their social and emotional skills.
