Can you help point me in the right direction with my Circle Time dissertation?

Q:  I am currently completing my PGCE and I have a dissertation to write.  I chose Circle Time for my topic.  Although I have led Circle Times on several occasions I feel under-equipped so I have begun my path to learn more.  For my research I am looking at the benefits for children with SEN and implications for the school.  I would appreciate any advice or information on resources that you can provide.

Jenny:  You are in luck! I have supervised lots of Masters Dissertations on Circle Time over the years for the School of Education, Bristol University. If you make contact with the School of Education library they can give you a list. Fiona Wood’s dissertation 'Can Circle Time in the Foundation Stage Support the Early Learning Goals for Personal, Social and Emotional Development?' is particularly useful. Monica Taylor’s NFER research on Circle Time has been published - I think it is called ‘Going Round in Circles’. We are creating a chunk on our website on research for students likes yourself. The theoretical underpinnings chapter in ‘Quality Circle Time in the Primary School’ (Mosley, LDA 1993) is useful as well. If you are still a bit stuck after this we do have some articles we can send you so send an SAE to our office address. Good luck!
