Calming Children Back Down after Busy Lunchtimes
I have been so busy with my lunchtimes training for schools – everyone seems to be concerned about creating positive lunchtimes and playtimes – and often with just cause! I’m really thrilled that schools are taking up the challenge to revamp their school dining hall systems and enliven their playgrounds to help make lunchtimes and playtimes fun, healthy and motivating for children. When I’m out training Midday Supervisors and managers in schools it’s fantastic to see staff putting into practice dining hall and playground systems that will help everyone involved and make lunchtimes smoother and calmer.
All children deserve to eat a healthy lunch in a pleasant atmosphere, enjoying some heart-warming social time and afterwards getting some fresh air and exercise and returning to the classroom calm and ready to learn. Sometimes, however, children need help to calm back down to come back to the classroom to their seats. So, I am writing a new book in our ‘Calm’ series called “Quick Calm Downs after Busy Playtimes”. Often, a few minutes to ‘touch back down’ is all that children need to help them become mentally prepared for returning to the focus and concentration required of them for their afternoon’s activities. Terms and Conditions
4 winners will be chosen at random from all Facebook and email entrants. The first two winners will be offered a place on the Hampshire training day (Fareham, 29th January 2016). We choose the winners at random by putting all entries on a table with numbered rows. Then a member of our staff team in a different office, who cannot see the table is telephoned and asked for a number between 1 and, say, 40 (or whoever many people entered the competition). If anyone enters the competition twice, they only appear on the list once. Email and Facebook entrants are muddled up together on the list and given equal weight. (Please note, if people only want to be entered for the training day or the booklet, they will only be put in the list for that particular prize.)
Winners’ names will be written into this article once randomly selected and also names to be announced on the Facebook post. We will email winners and/or notify via Facebook but sometimes people don’t get our messages on Facebook so do check here after the closing date to see if it’s you!
Please note: You must claim your prize within 2 weeks of competition closure. There is no cash alternative or cash value to this offer.
