The Quality Circle Time Model can be used in a school or early years context by all teachers and practitioners working in school. Its potential has also been realised in other settings. QCT works best when it permeates an entire school.
When all the staff – headteacher, teaching assistants, lunchtime supervisors and any other support staff – work to the same code, the boundaries become clearer for the children.
A system of moral values – Golden Rules – becomes clearer when enforced by all staff. The sanctions and celebration system gains strength, momentum and clarity.
The qualities found within this system – listening skills, respect for difference, boundaries and giving individuals a voice – are also highly valued in many businesses and organisations. The model has been successfully adapted for use with adults in this way.
